Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a four-member investigation committee to investigate the Greek boat incident, in which several Pakistani citizens died.

So far, no official number has been given by the government regarding the number of Pakistanis killed in this tragic incident. However, an official condolence message issued by Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said, “He expresses deep sorrow at the tragic loss of lives of over 300 Pakistanis in the recent boat accident off the coast of Greece. “

According to a Guardian report, there were about 400 Pakistanis on board. Of the 78 survivors, only 12 were from Pakistan, the foreign ministry said on Saturday.

The committee will also analyze past similar incidents and measures taken and review the existing legal framework, enforcement measures (in-country) and international coordination to prevent, control and punish human trafficking. will

The committee also makes short- and long-term recommendations (including legislation, enforcement measures, awareness campaigns, and improved national and international coordination) to apprehend agents, facilitators/masterminds/rackets, and eradicate the scourge of human trafficking.
