BEIJING: According to China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which celebrated its tenth anniversary this year, has contributed significantly to the economic relationship between China and Pakistan and generated more than 155,000 new local jobs for Pakistanis. An NDRC official said at a news conference that the CPEC has produced positive outcomes, including the growth of the Gwadar Port and cooperation in the fields of manufacturing, infrastructure, and energy.

“Several highway development initiatives are moving along according to plan. The scenario of a power scarcity has altered thanks to the hydroelectric plants that have begun operating commercially, which offer close to one-third of Pakistan’s electrical needs, the official added.

CPEC generated 236,000 employment by the end of 2022, of which 155,000 went to employees in Pakistan.
