Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin described the military group’s coup as a major setback.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a short recorded address to the nation that we are fighting against the insurgency. This internal rebellion is a big blow. The Russian President further said that the strongest measures will be taken to crush the rebellion. Security has been tightened in Moscow and other cities. The situation in the Russian city of Rostov is ‘complicated’.

President Putin further said that he is taking all possible measures to thwart this attack. A military coup is like a stab in the back. The mutineers have betrayed Russia. I urge the people involved in this uprising to lay down their arms.

On the other hand, the leader of the rebel military group has claimed to have captured several Russian cities, including Rostov. He says that fighters have been sent to remove the defense minister of Russia.
