Erdogan made a message on Twitter, and the following is a translation of it:
The fact that the elections on May 14 were held as a grand celebration of democracy in an atmosphere of calm and harmony is a sign of Turkey’s democratic maturity.
“Trying to publish the results prematurely would be usurping the will of the country, especially because the election was held in such a pleasant and democratic environment and the vote counting is still ongoing.
“We are pleased that the favor of our nation is reflected in the ongoing vote count.
“I ask all of my supporters and companions to stay at the ballot boxes, no matter what, until the results are officially finalized.
“I congratulate all the citizens who voted in the name of democracy and took part in the election process, and I express my gratitude to each and every one of them.”
